You’ve got to set goals to keep plugging ahead. In my last blog I reflected on the successes of the past six months and now I’m looking toward the future.
Here are my writing/promoting objectives for 2017:
*Get 100 reviews on Amazon this year- this may be challenging to attain, but if people who have read and liked my book are willing to take the time to do it; I will attain this goal! Here is the link to Amazon-> http://amzn.to/1OkbJAl I appreciate every single review!! Thank you.
*Win book awards -I’ve been nominated and I’ve filled out participant forms. Now my fingers are crossed…
*Reach more readers– this year my travel schedule is busier than ever. I will be presenting my book to organizations, museums, schools and libraries around New England and hopefully around the country– then eventually the world!! Why not? (At least I stopped at Universe)
*Add a local voice to my presentation– I want to include Julie Zavrl singing “Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears” to my multimedia presentation. The song clearly expresses the mood and sentiment of the Irish Immigrants as they are leaving their beloved Emerald Isle. Plus, Julie’s voice is beautiful and poignant…
*Expand to more Bookstores– my book will soon be available in Beverly at Cabot Street Books and Cards and I hope to include others as 2017 rolls on.
*Collaborate with other great writers– I feel this is invaluable because writing is solitary and having a trustworthy group of writers willing to offer feedback and advice will help everyone involved. I can’t wait to meet with my local, published author friends late in January!
*Attract a traditional publisher- this is every writer’s goal so why not just come out and admit it? I hope that by expanding my readership, my travel schedule and my social media and website following that I will be able to prove to a traditional publisher that they should take a chance on a first time historical fiction writer.
*Movie- convince Ken Burns or Stephen King to make a movie based on my book. Oops, that should be under the “Dream” category. A t least Ken Burns sent an encouraging note to me (via his assistant). You never know!
*Keep writing!- I have two projects underway; a young adult novel and a sequel to Yours Faithfully, Florence Burke. I hope to continue researching Florence’s son Michael and recount the life of a second generation Irish Immigrant!
Your determination, enthusiasm and work ethic will take you a long way towards your goals!! Best of luck!
You and your book are both first class!
Loved your book and could not put it down till the end. I filled this space in with a rather lengthy note to you earlier but it disappeared when I was asked to correct the email address so I will try again.
I really love the 3 goals you chose for this year and I pray that at the end of 2017 you would have fulfilled them 10 times over!
Thank you very much.
Hey, thanks for the kind words of encouragement! I will do my best.
